Deuteronomy 34:1-12

We will celebrate our independence as a free nation.

America is still the greatest nation in the world

#1.  Leaving a legacy of promise.

Deuteronomy 34:4 (NIV) "Then the Lord said to him, 'This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.'"

Moses desires for them to remember their......

Deuteronomy 32:3-4 (NIV) "I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He."

He has chosen not to let what has happened in the past cloud his perspective.

The promise is where sin abounds, God's grace abounds that much more.

The promise is in the last days. God's Spirit is going to explode on the face of the earth.

The promise is that we will see greater miracles than those of Jesus Christ.

Moses remembered God's promise for the future.

May we remain faithful and positive that God's promise for the future is great.

#2. Leaving a legacy of potential.

Deuteronomy 34:9 (NIV) "Now Joshua, son of Nun, was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So, the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses."

America still has great potential

"Elijah syndrome."

"Elijah, the Lord is about to pass by. You are not the only one left. There are thousands that have not, nor will they, bow to the enemy."

"Come out of that cave and see, hear, and feel the power and glory of our God."

#3. Leaving a legacy of purpose.

Deuteronomy 34:12 (NIV) "For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel."

What you plan today, you will do tomorrow.

If there are no plans, tomorrow will be today, and it will be lost.

Deuteronomy 34:12 (NIV) "For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel."

Legacy is a gift that we give to the future.

"They cherished a great hope and inward zeal of laying good foundations, or at least making some ways toward it, for the propagation and advance of the gospel of the kingdom of Christ in the remote parts of the world, even though they should be but stepping stones to others in the performance of so great a work."

Moses heard from God, and when he heard from God, he lived a life of purpose that was to do God's will.

May we as Americans, and more importantly, as Christians, live a life of purpose.
