Ecclesiastes 2:10, 11

A LIE BELIEVED AS TRUTH WILL AFFECT YOU AS IF

IT WERE TRUE.

It's the performance mentality lie.

If I perform well, then I'm valuable.

Ecclesiastes 2:11 “Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.”

#1. Our identity wrongly comes from what we have accomplished.

Getting a promotion makes you feel good.

Let's be careful that we don't believe the lie that our worth comes from what we've accomplished and what we do.

#2. Our identity wrongly comes from what we have.

The problem is when we build our identity on those things.

#3. Our identity wrongly comes from what people think about 1us.

You are not what you did.

You are not what you do.

You are not what you're going to do.

We are not our performance.

We are not our accomplishments.

We are not what we accumulate.

Let’s not mix up the WHO and the DO.

Ecclesiastes 2:10 “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works.”

What we do should be a result of who we are.

Only through Jesus Christ can you be fulfilled.

That's why the Word of God says not to compare yourself with other people.

If we think we are what we DO, we end up being human doings

instead of human beings.

He is the source of our strength.

#1. Let God define the do’s and the don’ts.

2 Matthew 11:29-30, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from

Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

“My yoke is easy, My burden is light. I will empower you.”

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

Proverbs 20:25 “It is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly, only later to consider his vows.”

#2. Let God define the WHEN and the THEN.

James 14:13-14 “Now listen, you who say you, ‘Today or tomorrow, we’ll go to this city or that city, spend a year there, carry on business, make money. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.’”

"Martha, you're upset and worried about many things. Mary has chosen what is better. It will not be taken away from her."

Colossians 3:17 “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do everything in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God, the Father, through Him.”
