Genesis 12:1-4

How does God put this covenant plan into action?

That purpose would be defined by faith and obedience.

Spiritual growth is about hearing God's voice and trusting Him enough to take the next step.

The same God who spoke to Abraham is still inviting His people to step forward today.

1. God Calls Us Out of Our Comfort Zone

"I want you to move from this place."

I will bless you.

I will make your name great.

I will make you into a great nation.

We sometimes assume that once we reach a certain place, we have arrived and we can coast.

God is always calling us away from our complacency into a deeper walk with Him, and a greater experience with Him.

2. God Walks With Us Into the Uncertainty.

To the land that I will show you.

You won't be taking this journey alone. I will be with you.

That means you will not wander alone.

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. (Hebrews 11:8)

We don't have to know where when we know Who.

[Let's] take the first step in faith, and God will find us a footing for the second.

God calls us out of our comfort zone.

3. God Builds Upon Your Obedience

Abram obeyed, and God built a nation.

But his obedience made these possible.

God had made many promises to Abraham, but they did not unfold overnight.

We look at the clock; God looks at the calendar.

God builds on what we do in ways we can't imagine.

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:29)

Obedience affects generations to come in ways we cannot measure on our own.

Ordinary obedience in the hands of a faithful God produces extraordinary impact over time.

You can step into something new with God at any stage of life.

"I will show you ... and I will be with you every step of the way."
