Listen to the Message
1 Samuel 17
"Mount Everest, you have defeated us. But I will return. And I will defeat you. Because you cannot get any bigger ... and I can."
He did become bigger than the mountain, just like he said.
"I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20)
Jesus made it clear that there must be a connection between the faith that is in your heart and the words that come out of your mouth.
1. You're doing the talking, not the listening.
-
Your problems are always trying to intimidate you.
-
They tell you it can't be done.
-
They tell you it's useless to try.
-
They tell you don't deserve it.
-
"This problem is bigger than you are. You're going to fail."
-
It is your job to talk to the giant, not to listen to him.
2. Set the record straight.
-
You're just a temporary inconvenience.
-
(1 Samuel 17:26) "Who is this uncircumcised
-
Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?"
-
"Goliath, I'm the one telling you how it's going to be."
-
"I will conquer you not by my own power but by the power of God working through me."
-
Understanding that this problem is nothing compared to the power of God.
-
Can God overcome this problem?
-
In order to defeat the giant, you have to be bold enough to speak the word of faith to the giant.
3. Reach for a Rock.
-
David reached into his pouch and pulled out a stone and placed it in his sling and got ready to put his life on the line.
-
There must also be a connection between the words you speak and the actions you take.
-
Speaking the word of faith isn't all there is to spiritual victory, but it's an essential step in the process.
-
Speaking the word of faith propels you into taking action.
-
"You can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
-
Not faith in ourselves, but faith in the God for whom nothing is impossible.
