THE PROBLEM WITH ESAU
"I'm ready to make peace."
THE WRESTLING MATCH
While Jacob wrestled with this man, God appeared to him.
FACE TO FACE WITH ESAU
After two decades of anger and resentment and fear and regret, all was forgiven.
God, the God of Israel.
Sometimes, before you can take a journey into the future, you must finish the journey through your past.
Have you ever felt like your life has taken a detour?

1. You need to break away from that which is holding you back.
  • There came a point in Jacob's life when his only reasonable option was to separate himself from his abuser, and move on.
2. You need to wrestle with God ... and lose.
  • It's a lifelong process.
  • As he matured he learned to recognize the hand of God in his success.
  • He learned to surrender.
3. You need to balance yesterday’s books.
  • You may have to humble yourself and ask forgiveness.
  • "We are to make direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when doing so would injure them or others."
  • If you want to move forward in your life, you need to be ready to fully reconcile with the past.
  • The development of a marvelous transformation.
  • Before you can put the past behind you, you have to be willing to put it in front of you ... and deal with it.
  • And learn to walk with Him ... even if you have to limp.
