Listen to the Message

Genesis 24:1-67

It was time for him to fully prepare Isaac to carry what God had begun in Abraham.
"And if she's not willing to leave her home to come live in a far-away land, should I send Isaac there?"
He knew that such a response would indicate that she was hospitable, thoughtful, and kind.
The servant stopped right where he was and worshiped the Lord.
Number one, the hand of God is at work in these events as they unfold.
Number two, each of the main characters in this story put themselves in a position to be moved along by the hand of God.
"My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose... I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it." (Isaiah 46:10)
Where will you be when it happens?
Our objective is not to find a way to get God to fit in to our plans.
Our objective is to find a way to fit in to His plans.

  1. THE SERVANT.
  • He planned and prepared for the journey.
  • He made it a matter of prayer.
  • And when God came through, he stopped what he was doing to worship God.
  • Because his name is not nearly as important as his task.
  • "I'm not an important person, but I have an important
  • job to do ... and I intend to do it well."
"It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit."
  1. REBEKAH.
  • "Not only will I give you a drink, but I get water for your camels, too."
  • Her response was to go above and beyond.
  • And she chose to do it now.
  • God was able to use Rebekah because she was a strong woman with a servant's heart.
  • There's no limit to what God can accomplish in your life if you're willing to serve others.
  • Being a servant is not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength.
  1. ISAAC.
  • There he was out in the field pouring his heart out to God.
  • Have you noticed that in order to receive comfort, you have to open up your heart to that person?
  • He was not afraid to love.
  • Here is my heart.
  • Will you be inside taking part or on the outside looking in?

"I'm not an important person, but I've got an important job to do.  It involves serving God and serving others with all my heart."
