Proverbs 3:5-6

"A proverb a day keeps the stupid away."
(v. 5-6) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
You've got to learn to put your trust in God.

#1. When things happen that you don't understand.
  • (v. 5) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding...
  • When life takes an unexpected turn you don't have to understand everything that's happening.
  • When things happen that you don't understand, that is when you need to put your trust in God.
  • He had a plan greater than they could have imagined, but they weren't focused on God's plan.
  • You don't have to understand, you only have to trust God.
#2. When you are faced with a decision.
  • We need to turn to Him for guidance on any decision we make.
  • Leaving God out of one area of your life can lead to the destruction of the other areas.
  • The way you manage the different areas of your life comes down to the kind of decisions you make.
  • Making a decision the way God wants you to is a way of trusting God.
#3. When the future seems uncertain.
  • (v. 6) And He will make your paths straight.
  • If your future seems uncertain, He can handle it with certainty.
  • This verse isn't saying that He will make your life easy; it means that He will make your life focused.
  • We see ourselves in the multi-faceted terms of what God is accomplishing through us.
#4. What does it mean to trust God?
  • Trust and obey, For there's no other way
  • To be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.
  • By obeying God, you show that you trust Him.
  • It is a leap of faith.
