Defeating the Enemies of Change

Galatians 6:7-10

Creating lasting change in your life.
At some point you gave up and quit trying.
Changing your life is not as easy as making a resolution to do so.
Change hasn't happened yet.
Most people don't keep trying; most people give up somewhere along the way.

Three Enemies to Change

1. Residue from the Past
  • This is not some mysterious phenomenon; it's the Law of the Harvest.
  • Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. (Galatians 6:7 NIV)
  • Your life today is the harvest of what you planted before.
  • Don't let the fact that you have some consequences to face become an excusing for giving up.
  • "It's time to stop letting your history control your destiny.
2. Having to Wait for the Right Results.
  • We also have to learn to accept the fact that change doesn't take place over night.
  • Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9 NIV)
  1. You reap later than you sow.
  2. You reap more than you sow.
3. Unwillingness to Do It God's Way.
  • You will never lead if you don't first learned to follow!!!
  • "When it come to change there are three seasons of timing:
  1. People change when they hurt enough that they have to,
  2. when they learn enough that they want to,
  3. when they receive enough that they are able to."  John Maxwell
  • Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. (Galatians 6:7 NIV)
  • Get on the right path, and stay there until the harvest comes in.
  • Hang in there until the harvest comes in.
