The Circle That Surrounds US

Listen to the Message
Hebrews 10:24-25
When an individual is separated from the community, trouble ensues.
We weren’t made for isolation.
At the same time, more people today are living isolated, disconnected lives than ever before.
Your life can be characterized by meaningful, fulfilling, life affirming relationships of all kinds.
5 Circles we need to be a part of.
1. We Need To Be Involved In A Community Of Worship.
  • We’ve come together as a group with the primary purpose of worshiping God.
  • Let’s do it often.
  • “I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the LORD.’” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭122:1‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬
2. We Need To Be Included In A Circle Of Acceptance.
  • I used to think that the worst thing in life was to end up alone. It’s not, the worst thing in life is ending up with people who make you feel alone.
  • “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: if either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no-one to help them up.” Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4:9-10‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬
3. We Need To Choose A Circle Of Influence.
  • You want to be selective in who you allow to influence your thoughts, ideas, and behaviors.
  • “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” ‭‭John‬ ‭13:15‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬
  • Jesus needs to be front and center in our circle of influence.
  • Does this person demonstrate the qualities and characteristics of Jesus.
  • I’m talking about people who have the wisdom to speak into you life and give you guidance on matters of importance.
4. We Need To Establish A Circle Of Accountability.
  • “So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.” Romans‬ ‭14:12‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬
  • “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.” Galatians‬ ‭6:1‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬
  • That’s the qualifier: spiritual maturity.
accountability and maturity go hand in hand.
5. We Need To Develop A Circle Of Outreach.
  • “A man must make friends or have friends, for no one ever went to heaven alone.” John Wesley
  • We should always be in the lookout for those who can be part of our circle of outreach.
  • “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs‬ ‭13:20‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬
  • You need to be that wise person with whom others can walk.
  • “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.”
  • Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.
  • “And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:24-25‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬
  • Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.
