Facing Life’s Greatest Challenge

Listen to the Message
John 12:23-28
“Anyone who serves God will discover sooner or later that the greatest hindrance is not others, but himself.”
How to navigate life’s defining moments.
Luke 9:23
The key word here is DAILY.
Denying yourself - dying to self - is a process.
That’s life’s greatest challenge.
1. Before there can be a resurrection, there must be a death.
  • Before there can be a victory, there must be a battle.
  • The truth is, you weren’t standing still; it’s a comparison of exaggeration.
  • “.. not my will but yours be done.” Luke 22:42
  • It leads to the resurrection power of Jesus Christ in your life.
  • In order to experience the resurrection power of Christ, you must die to yourself.
  • Galatians 2:20
2. Being a fully devoted follower of Jesus means we are called to “tag along” with Him, rather than Him “tagging along” with us.
  • Jesus is talking about the attitude of submission that He expects from His followers.
  • “God want is it you want me to do? Where do you want me to go?”
  • That means it’s His itinerary, not yours.
3. There will be a time in your life when you , like Jesus, must be able to say: “For this reason I came to this hour.”
  • Matthew 26:38
  • “There are two great moments in a person’s life; the moment you were born and the moment you realize why you were born.”
  • Matthew 26:39
  • This is a defining moment for me.
  • “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.”
  • Before there can be a victory, there must be a battle.
  • When Christ calls a man, He bids him come and die.
  • To whom will I surrender today?
  • He is no fool who gives up what he cannot Jeep to gain what he cannot lose.
