The Light of the World

Listen to the Message

Psalm 72:1-7

The sun shines on everybody.

It talked a great deal about being a blessing to others.

"Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" (Luke 2:14)

What's most interesting about this King of all Kings is that His

life was not a life a privilege.

"...The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve..." (Matthew 20:28)

"The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master..." (Matthew 10:24)

"...Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant..." (Matthew 20:26)

But the real life of royalty is not about being served, it's about being a servant.

1. Rescue those you can rescue.

  • "You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."

  • God inspired her to rescue a class full of children, and she did.

  • From time to time you'll have the opportunity to rescue someone.

2. Refresh those who need to be refreshed.

  • "A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success."

  • That person is breathing.

  • No one needs your criticism.

  • "People have a way of becoming what you encourage them to be, not what you nag them to be."

3. Remain with those who need you.

  • People need to know that you will be around as long as it is up to you to be around.

  • How much you are there for the people who need you.

  • Living like a king's kid isn't about living a life of privilege and comfort.

Rescue. Refresh. Remain.
